Accounting Position at Shaw AFB

Summary: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office Shaw AFB. The role involves performing double-entry accrual accounting work to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers. The duties include examining, verifying, and analyzing various documents to determine their mathematical correctness, validity, and clerical accuracy. Documents may include purchase orders, vouchers, payrolls, property records, etc., which are complicated by discounts, partial payments, etc. The position also involves resolving disagreements by contacting vendors, completing posting documents with backup attached, coding documents, and posting them to the appropriate ledger or journal. Additionally, the role requires posting and totaling general ledger accounts each month, preparing worksheets, statements, and closing accounts. The position also prepares reports monthly, quarterly, and annually, reflecting the financial condition of activities serviced by the accounting unit. Furthermore, it performs duties of central cashier as required and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Have experience in work which provided a knowledge of double entry accounting procedures and techniques; knowledge of procedures used to enter, modify, retrieve, and delete information in an automated general ledger system; and the ability to analyze the interrelationship of accounts that are affected by varied transactions. Be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas.
