SUMMARY

A truck driver’s responsibilities involve the delivery or pick-up of product to and from customers, reporting, operations, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management. The truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the company and a favorable image of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Delivery and operations:
  • Deliver goods to people or companies at specified locations.
  • Determine address or location of where package is going and maintain designated delivery route.
  • Load and inspect product before delivered.
  • Verify that all items listed on invoice are loaded and delivered.
  • Provide customer with an accurate invoice and collect payment if needed.
  • Communicate safe storage and handling procedures to customers.
  • Avoid damage to customer’s buildings or property.
  • Ensure truck doors and closed when delivery is complete.
  • Avoid spilling or damaging product before or when delivering.
  1. SAFETY and maintenance:
  • Obey all traffic laws including: traffic signs, street signs and posted speed limits.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle, adding fluids and oil as needed and report any issues or repairs needed to supervisor.
  • Check tires, brakes, lights, and gas daily. Add fuel when running low.
  • Wash and clean cab of vehicle as weather and operating conditions require to maintain a clean vehicle.
  • Monitor traffic conditions to avoid delays and relay any issues to supervisor.
  • Read and interpret maps and GPS directions.
  • Report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to your supervisor.
  • Allow no riders to in company vehicles unless approved by your supervisor.
  1. REPORTING:
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours and mileage driven.
  • Inform your supervisor of changes to invoices upon arrival at the warehouse.
  • Ensure all invoices presented to the office are correct.
  • Present a copy of each transaction to the customer after each delivery.
  • Turn all invoices and corresponding payments into office daily.
  • Use system provided to clock and out to ensure driving hours are logged.
  • Turn in all gas and/or item receipts to office daily.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license. (PROVISIONAL NOT ACCEPTED)
  • Have and maintain a good and clean driving record. (points, tickets and/or suspensions in last 3 years or provisional licenses NOT accepted).
  • Must have at least 2 YEARS experience driving a box truck or similar sized truck.
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test. (ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED)
  • Submit to random drug testing as requested by management. (ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED)
  • Obtain, maintain, and always have on your person a DOT Medical Card.
  • Lift boxes or cartons up to 50 pounds to a height of 3-5 feet and load or unload them into a truck or storage facility. Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physical tasks. Must have physical capability to climb in and out of box truck, bend, sit, etc. This is not bumping docks!
  • Operate a hand truck/cart.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Must have and use a hands free device.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English and have basic math skills.
