Classification Title: Medical Director (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) Job Description: The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida seeks a Medical Director for the UF Health Eye Center to build, advance, and elevate the strategic vision of the department. This position combines direct patient care service with leadership responsibilities in support of ophthalmology clinical programs. Candidates should be eligible for the clinical faculty rank of Assistant Professor or above and demonstrate experience with and commitment to advancing clinical, surgical, and educational excellence within an academic medical center. The Medical Director will be a member of the ophthalmology faculty and work closely with the department chair, executive management team, and institutional leadership to implement strategies that enhance patient care and improve the medical practice. Responsibilities include providing healthcare services and teaching during clinical encounters and surgical interventions for ophthalmologic patients, as well as administrative duties to steer operations and support the organizational functions of the eye center. Applicants will engage in a busy tertiary clinical practice in an established department with a new, state-of-the-art clinic and surgery center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, there are ample opportunities to develop independent and collaborative research and innovative educational models in a diverse academic clinical department. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College of Medicine offers a competitive faculty compensation plan, which includes incentives. • Completion of an ACGME-accredited ophthalmology residency program and applicable postgraduate fellowship training if practicing a relevant subspecialty
• Board certification or eligibility and ability to obtain licensure in Florida
• Credentialing as medical staff at UF Health facilities and affiliated locations
• Eligibility for the rank of Assistant Professor or above
• Experience and commitment to clinical, surgical, and educational excellence in an academic medical center

Preferred Qualifications: - Strong commitment to teaching, resident training, and research, with participation in academic activities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Leadership qualities, judgment, problem-solving, and cognitive skills
