Degree in Radiologic Technology, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Ultrasound certification, and minimum 1+ years Imaging experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A healthcare opportunity is available for a skilled ultrasound technologist specializing in general ultrasound imaging. This contract position is located in Ellsworth, ME, and involves operating medical imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. The role requires interaction with patients, utilization of specialized computerized systems, and collaboration with radiologists and physicians to ensure accurate diagnostic outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and perform imaging to capture clear anatomical views
• Consult with radiologists to review exams prior to patient discharge
• Provide ultrasound guidance during special procedures for attending physicians
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with clinical engineering as needed
• Verify orders and patient identity using established protocols
• Operate ultrasound units and probes effectively to obtain requested images
• Manage and send images through PACS and demonstrate competence in EPIC systems
• Perform high-level disinfection of endocavity probes following policy guidelines
• Maintain accurate patient records while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality standards

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Proficient in the operation of ultrasound imaging equipment and related software systems
• Strong understanding of diagnostic anatomy and image acquisition techniques
• Ability to communicate compassionately and effectively with patients
• Experience with PACS and EPIC electronic medical systems preferred
• Skilled in equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
• Knowledge of proper disinfection techniques and infection control protocols

Additional Details:This is a contract position. Please note that candidates residing within 50 miles of the location will have a lower hourly rate applied. Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid, and the facility retains the right to cancel up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period.
